Spacer
With this command you can create a spacer with just a few mouse clicks. You can use the spacer with or without material specification (e.g. as plastic shim).
The block is also used as an edge composite for infills.
Depending on the last usage, either a command prompt or the following dialog box will appear:

In the dialog box you will find on the left side the display section with the preview. On the right side you will see the operating section. You can activate the individual function areas with register buttons.

Under the dialog box title, you will find the Quick access with functions for object management. Below that is the Preview on the left and the Operating section on the right with various drop-down menus.

Important functions for object management are arranged in the quick access area.

Open
Opens an existing object.
For this, the Dialog box Select objects is displayed, where you can select a saved object. You will find further information on this in the section Object selection.

Save
Saves the object without having to specify a new name. When you save an unnamed object, the Dialog box Save is displayed. You will find information on this in the section Saving objects.

Save as
Saves the object under a new name. To do this, the Dialog box Save is displayed. You will find information on this in the section Saving objects.

Select object
Brings an object from the drawing into the editor. For this, the dialog box is temporarily closed and an input request follows for the object selection.

Retrieve favorite
Loads an object or object properties from the favorites list. To do this, the Dialog box Retrieve favorite is displayed.

Save favorite
Saves the current object as favorite. You do not need to specify a name; after saving, a brief note appears which you have to confirm with OK. You will find further information in the section Saving and using favorites.

Use default
Restores the default settings (system or user defaults) in the dialog box or resets the dialog box to the original state.

Save as default
Saves the current settings as user default.

Remove default
Removes the user defaults and restores the system defaults. The button is inactive when no user defaults have been saved.
The preview shows the spacer with the currently set properties. It is primarily used for a visual check, but offers other functions too:
Additional functions are activated by clicking in the preview with the mouse wheel. You will find further information on this in the section Object preview.
At the top left of the preview, you will find the view control menu. This allows you to set both the preview and the insertion into the drawing. You will find further information on this in the section Object views.
Notes for insertion into the various views:
When you insert a spacer as side view from the left or right, either the dimensions or the base point and the rotation angle are interrogated. For further information, siehe "Input request for blocks as cross sections".
If you insert a spacer as 2D plan view, 2D bottom view, 2D front elevation or 2D rear elevation, the length is interrogated on insertion. For further information, siehe "Input request for block projections".
If you insert a spacer as a solid, the length is interrogated. For further information, siehe "Input request for a block as solid 3D body".
When inserting as a solid, an "unnamed bar assembly" with the designation of the spacer is created in the background. You will find further information on bar assemblies in the sections Edit bar assembly and Apply bar assembly.

The options in the drop-down menus are variable depending on the creation method. They also differ for editing insulation. Below you will find a description of all available options.
Drop-down menu Properties
Determine on screen
Determines the dimensions of the spacer on the screen when you close the dialog box with OK. Further input requests follow.
The option Determine on screen is saved permanently.
If this option has been activated, the input fields Width and Height are deactivated. Otherwise you can specify the dimensions in these input fields.
Width
Defines the width of the spacer.
Height
Defines the height of the spacer.
You can specify the dimensions in different units of measurement, for example 6 cm, 3 1/4", etc. If you omit the unit, the current drawing unit is used.

Defines the dimension in the drawing. For this, the dialog box is temporarily closed and you can define the dimension by clicking two points.
Chamfer
Creates a spacer with chamfers. In the input field you define the chamfer spacing.
Once you activate the main tick box for the chamfers, further tick boxes for the chamfer position are enabled with which you can define which corners of the spacer are to be chamfered.
 
Chamfer top
Left: Activates or deactivates the chamfer at the upper left corner of the spacer.
Right: Activates or deactivates the chamfer at the upper right corner of the spacer.
Chamfer bottom
Left: Activates or deactivates the chamfer at the lower left corner of the spacer.
Right: Activates or deactivates the chamfer at the lower right corner of the spacer.
Material
Opens the Dialog box Material selection, where you can select a material. You will find further information on materials in the sections Material and Material selection.
Item
Opens the Dialog box Item, where you can select an item number. You will find a detailed explanation on items in the section Item.
Drop-down menu Form
Infill
Outline
Creates a spacer without infill.
Standard
Creates a standard spacer which is filled with an X.
Hatched
Creates a spacer with hatched infill.
Hatch
System
Uses the hatching that has been defined in Dialog box System layer for the spacer.
Material
Uses the hatching that has been defined in Dialog box Material properties for the material.
This option is only available if you have selected a material for the spacer (not SYSTEM).
Specific
Uses a user-specific hatching.
